Built in 2005, Sweetwater County Detention Center is a state-of-the-art facility housing all persons arrested or incarcerated in Sweetwater County as well as those inmates-in-transit from across the state (and sometimes from across the country).Our facility features a maximum prisoner capacity of over 200 inmates and is one of only four county facilites across the state with a separate juvenile holding facility (which is legally required to house juvenile inmates). Sweetwater County Detention Center is a large and complex operation staffed by over 50 Sheriff's Office employees including approximately 20 state-certified detention officers, 10 control-room operators (for around-the-clock coverage) and numerous support staff (such as various administrative, transport and medical personnel)
